Why 'Mummy's Pretties' you ask?
My business name comes from my youngest daughter Matilda. When she was littler she used to call all my jewellery and pretty much anything on my bedside table 'Mummy's Pretties'.
Becoming a mum started earlier than the birth of my 1st biological daughter. At the age of 21 my now husband proposed and less than 7 months later his two children came to live with us full time. This was one of the happiest times in our life and it was defiantly a time of quick learning for me. I now had a 4 and 6 year old in my care with a full time job and my to be husband working full time. No more lovin' in the lounge room or showering with the bathroom door open for us haha.
But we coped, made sacrifices and in 2011 we became husband and wife. Our vowels including that I not only took my husbands hand in marriage but I also took the responsibility to care for his two beautiful children. He and I exchanged rings and I gave them a necklace each to keep. One of my fondest memories.
This is my favorite photo from our wedding day as there is so much love all in one photo.
The same year we bought our first home and in 2013 our daughter Matilda was born.
This was my biggest test. I may have become an instant mum the first time but it still didn't prepare me for a baby. Her tears, my tears.... the NO SLEEP. I am a very active, busy person who hates sitting still, as busy as she kept me I was honestly bored with the baby routine and the no sleep killed me!
Motherhood has been my biggest life changer but has become the best thing that has happened to me. I have always been a reserved, quiet, anxious person but having children means you need to be outgoing... your the adult (yes I keep reminding myself). Looking back I would never have seen myself where I am now and I owe it all to my husband and children. They motivate me, support me, test me and I love them unconditionally for it.
Next post I'll discuss the motivation behind Mummy's Pretties xx
until then ... xx
